Philip Sheppard is an award-winning composer, producer, virtuoso cellist, and creative innovator.
Philip has composed more than 60 films, video games, television series and theatrical scores including Sony PS4’s highly acclaimed video game, DETROIT: Become Human, which sold 1 million copies in its first two weeks, and the Star Wars Force Awakens Behind the Scenes Comic Con trailer, which has over 11 million YouTube views. His major film works include the Netflix original documentary Mercury 13 directed by David Sington and Heather Walsh, the Barack Obama focused documentary directed by Greg Barker titled The Final Year, and Meru, which won numerous awards including the Audience Award for Documentary at Sundance Film Festival. For his work on In the Shadow of the Moon, Philip received an International Film Music Critics Award nomination in the “Best Original Score for a Documentary” category. He is also behind the music of Emmy-nominated documentaries Sergio, Bobby Fischer Against the World, and The Tillman Story, which won a News & Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Informational Programming – Long Form.
Philip was honored with BBC’s Music Production of the Year forThe Manchester Passion and was named as one of Origin Magazine’s “Top 100 Creatives.” He is also the recipient of a RAM Fellowship, a lifetime achievement award from the Royal Academy of Music for his services to music and education. Philip was inducted as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2017.
